S-L-O-W weight loss

You know I went to TOPS hoping to weigh in at ANYTHING under 300. Even 299.9 would have been fine. But no, I was 304. Only down ONE pound. I really thought I had done better than that. I wondered (hoped) "Perhaps I drank too much water on my way to weigh in". Maybe. Maybe not. Before I went to bed, I weighed on the wii and it said 300.9 and I was excited. However, I weighed on the wii THIS morning and it said 303.5 eerrr.

I think I am weighing too much and putting too much focus on the "under 300 by Friday (my birthday)" thing. I need to be happy for the pound I lost, regardless.

Having said that, I am really watching my salt intake for these next two days! Wow..have you read the labels? 90% of the things in my kitchen have a LOT of salt. Except bananas. Did you know that bananas only have 1mg of salt? I think they are a super food!

Time for a SPRING CHALLENGE CHECK-IN!
This week I *still* have had no soda! Yay!!
I exercised at least 30 minutes for only FOUR days instead of the SIX. Mostly due to poor time management.....which I am STILL working on. eerr
Something good: This one is hard today because I sure am not feeling it. OK...something good.....I am content to drive an old junky van with no air. Sure, I'd love to have a nice vehicle, and I once did...but we were so financially strapped and couldn't even pay our bills. My van was repossessed in December. Now I drive a clunker. But it is paid for! And I am okay with driving it and not even complaining because I am enjoying how it freed up our income AND because we are getting out of debt and I know that as I am patient, we will eventually be able to get a better vehicle for me and won't have to go into debt to get it! yay! (We are huge Dave Ramsey fans.) The above pic is how my hair looks when I've been in my van with no air...with the windows down. ;) LOL

  1. I know its hard not seeing a loss or just a small one, but keep up the hard work and you will see a difference. Just remember our TOPS that's TOPS stands for taking off the pounds sensible. I'm also a follow TOPS member and have just been elected our chapters co-leader. Check out my blog if you time

  2. You're doing over 3000 calories a day? Just curious my friend...

I agree with the financial stuff. I drive a vehicle with some pretty good body damage---and you know what? I don't care. Same as you...it's paid for, it's ugly, but someday I'll have a nice vehicle...right now is not the time!

    My best always

  3. 3000+ calories a day sounds like a lot, even for someone at your weight. I'd bet if you lowered that to 1800 you'd see remarkable losses. Just my 2 cents.

  4. I know what you mean about wishing the weight loss was faster... but good for you for the 1lbs loss. I struggle to get over 1/2 lb loss each week! Oh well, we are going in the right direction... down!

I hope you don't mind me giving a quick message to Maranda:
Hey Maranda! I would love to leave a comment on your blog, but the comments appear to be "off", and I find no email to contact you. Just wondered if you knew...

  5. Do you know how many calories you burn a day? I don't want to step on your toes but is there anyway you might consider reducing the number of calories you are taking in?

In my bodybugg program my calorie allowance is 2100 and I am supposed to burn 2800 leaving a deficit of about 750 per day. That is in order to lose 1.5-2.0 lbs. per week. For maintenance the RDV is 2,000 cals per day so I am thinking 3K is too much for you. Again, I don't want to offend you but just wanted to offer my two cents. *hugs*

  6. God bless you if you can lose any weight eating that much. I'm not being mean, okay? I've been eating less than 1400 per day and haven't lost an ounce in 5 weeks. When I increase the intake, I gain. I walk briskly for 1 hour each day and lift weights every other day. Of course, I'm in my 50s so I expected it to go slow but jeez... Well, thanks for listening. Good luck!

  7. WELL... You guys overall are not encouraging today! I know its may seem like a lot of calories but have most of you recorded your calorie intake for about a month when u r not on a diet.. take that average.. MOST people are way way up there in calories intake.. my average before dieting was around4000 - sometimes 5000.. I am on a diet and my maintain calories are even hard to reach at 2080.. so lay of you mean mean people .. we are all differant and one more thing..it isnt all about calories , its also about what type of foods you are eating.. hence the reason i felt guilty for eating 2 big things of ice cream the other day (justified by being Under my calorie limit) ... its constant little improvements that make for a healthier better life.

  8. Ya know... our time is our life... and everyone's time is so limited. So for people to care enough, to be concerned enough, to take time to offer ideas and solutions... well, it seems like they CARE, and are not trying to be mean.

Since we can't hear a gentle tone of voice, or hear the compassion or tenderness in a comment, sometimes we misinterpret the intent... we inject our own feelings sometimes. And miss the care and understanding and support that people try to offer.

This journey to health, to weight loss, is something we share in common. And most of us have cried ourselves to sleep over it... and know the pain of it. And even if we do it clumsily sometimes, I have to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume they are just trying to help.

    I hope you feel better today. {{hugs}}
