Hey, Sugar ;) (Look! I'm still alive!)

Did you think I had died? We have NOT had the lazy days of summer around here. Busy busy busy. VBS, camp, and now selling fireworks for the church. Always something! But I am alive and kicking!

Our co-leader at TOPS passed away rather unexpectly 2-3 weeks after finding out that she had cancer.

I am still yo-yoing the same 5 pounds or so. 303-308. I was 308 yesterday. I was 308 in July 2009. So I pretty much wasted a year. I feel like I have tried hard. But I have done nothing. And as I write this,I am wanting something good to eat :)

I have done good on my fast of "anything that has sugar as the first ingredient". I have found that a lot of things do not have sugar as the first ingredient but still can be full of sugar. But there have been a few things I had to walk away from because sugar was the first ingredient. Brownies. Frosting.

Yesterday's TOPS program was about how much sugar we eat. We took the average person's food journal and then put actual table sugar in a jar to represent how much sugar they consumed. It was 2 cups! So I think I will do that this week----put the sugar in the jar at the end of the day so I can SEE how much addictive, unhealthy sugar I am putting in my body.

Well, there you have it. I hope to update more regularly. :) Thanks for missing me!

  1. Well, I for one am glad you're back, I enjoy reading your posts! Good going on the sugar fast, it's amazing to find out how much sugar is in the stuff we eat. I wanted to stop using so much artificial sweetener and switch to agave and honey, but that ups the calorie what's a girl to do?? For now I am sticking with the artificial stuff and concentrating on losing the weight......then I'll work on switching.

  3. I'm sorry about your Tops co-leader... that must have been very upsetting and sad for you.

  4. Hi, it's me again, commenting on a very old post! LOL. I just wanted to say, regarding what you said about wasting a year, to remember that if you hadn't made the effort that you did, you'd probably weigh more after the year than being the same. I know from experience! I have to tell myself that when I have lost weight and gained it all back. That if I hadn't spent all the time and effort losing the pounds, I would have spent that time piling more on. I know me. So even though this is "old news," just remember that every effort is worth something, even if you try as hard as you can and weigh the same for the rest of your life. Your effort is making it better than it would be without that effort. So every passed up treat or whatever does make a difference. BTW, I know I don't know you, but I think you're awesome.

(And I don't know if you saw my reply comment on my blog, but I'm 5'4").
